Work your territory geographically.  When you book an appointment, note the postal code on your calendar.  Then when prospecting, book appointments in the same postal code on the same day.   When you arrive at a call, make sure to visit the neighbouring companies on either side of your prospect, as well as those across the street.  That can add up to 5 calls every time you park the car.  Remember, time spent in the car is not productive, so minimize it.

Add related products to all of your proposals.  The reason fast food employees always ask you if you want some fries with that is because many people say yes.   Suggestion selling works.  You have nothing to lose and everything to gain, so why not ask?  The worst that can happen is you prospect says no.

Do you need to create a sense of urgency when presenting your proposals?  Make sure you put an expiry date on all of your written quotations.  When discussing your proposal, ensure you remind the prospect of what he is losing if he waits to act until after the expiry date.  Loss of a discount or added benefit can be very motivating to act now versus later.

Is your prospect too far away to meet face to face?  Schedule a phone appointment at a predetermined date and time.  If you plan properly, these appointments can be extremely productive in moving the sale forward, not to mention the travel time and expense you have saved.

Find time to do just one more call a day.  That is 260 calls a year, or the equivalent to an extra month to make money every year!
