Forget the Holiday Shopping Countdown, we need to be concerned with the Year End Selling Countdown! 

As the end of the year approaches, companies focus on implementation deadlines and expiring budgets, and sales people focus on making their annual quotas and earning their year end bonuses.  When you look at a calendar and start counting, there are only about 30 selling days left in the year to accomplish this.  (more…)

What is the purpose of your sales call?  What do you want to accomplish?  How will you know if it was a successful call?  If you can’t answer these questions because you do not have a pre-planned agenda, you are only wasting yours and the prospect’s time.

Twice a year we hear from sales people who say “it’s summer time no use in job hunting now”. The same thing happens at year end.  We regularly hear “no one ever hires in November or December so why should I be looking now?”

Companies are always looking and yes the numbers will drop in the summer and at the end of year but this provides serious job searchers with an advantage. If the number of people actively looking drops during this time then the number of competitors for that job has also dropped.  This provides a great opportunity for job seekers who keep looking.

Many companies hire in the New Year and the smart ones are gathering resumes and candidate profiles right now so they will be ready to hit the ground running when they are ready to start the hiring process.

I am sure you have heard the old adage that you are not born a sales people, you  need to develop and train someone to become a successful sales professional.  My family still swears that the doctor flipped me upside down, slapped my on the butt and handed me to my mother saying; “congratulations it’s a sales person”.

Your customer’s perception is your reality.  Don’ t waste your time writing proposals just for the sake of writing proposals.  If they don’t see a problem, there is no problem!
